    Fab your own rowboat

If you have been to the final day of FAB6, you might have seen my entry to the boat competition. I made a 'fabmoment' for it on our own site: fab your own rowboat.
The skinny on it: it is a skin on frame boat made from 9mm underlayment, 5/8 pvc conduit tubes for stingers and a cheap sunshade/tent for the skin. LOA is 3m65 (==12 foot)

The linesplan is based on a whitehall wherry, after having a good look at Platt Montfort's classic 12 design.
    Images here.

hmm. Some meta information: this forum is rarely visited? Maybe some people had the intention to make this a thriving hub, but right now it is not. At this pace it will not be either.

Forums thrive on the network effect. The more people that use a forum, the more people that will use a forum. Just have to plug away...

    Jonathan ...

you're right ... but then forums are also an awkward way to communicate; you typically have to *go* there to interact (and many forums are just not relevant enough for a daily or weekly visit) ... I would love to be able to respond by email to a forum thread ... can this platform achieve that? (we're going off topic now )

You can get email notification of responses in a thread, but you can't actually reply to a thread via email. This is because you need to somehow authenticate yourself in order to post a response.
