    Maker Blogs, Design sites, and Interesting things

    Here are some sites I find interesting and/or inspiring for designing things to make in the FabLab.

    Fabmoments, neat projects made in a FabLab in Amsterdam

    A store founded by a maker geek who now sells kits and blogs about interesting things to make.

    Thingiverse is mentioned elsewhere on this site, but worth mentioning again as a fun place to look at things people make. Often people will post the plans as well. Recently I like them more since they featured my first post there (;

    Instructibles is similar to Thingiverse, but doesn't always use FabLab level technology. Lots of fun things there. Often much more detailed in how to construct the objects.

    The blog for MAKE magazine. Everyone here should have heard of this--if you haven't you'll probably love it. Add to your google reader!

    I like Etsy, hopefully you will too! Most of the work there is 'softer' but some is inspirational and others can be edited to use more technology. Also a place to buy (and sell!) artists' and crafters' work.

    GENERAL DESIGN SITES
    Some places that design interesting things:

    A blog only about packaging--but pretty neat within its place

    a blog about 'geek crafts'

    Things that have inspired me to make puzzles/sculptures (which haven't all materialized yet, but some of the plans are there):

    This artist, an amazing sculptor who uses 3d prototyping himself

    A compendium of sliding puzzles for making with woodworking some of which I adjusted for cutting with a laser.

    Thanks for sharing these great links to us. I had fun with the packaging website. Those sure are lovely ways to present a product. I always believe that a product's packaging contributes much in getting products sold or not.
